Two topics were presented:
1. Your journey to Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) with CICS. A presentation of principles to make better use of existing CICS applications to achieve strategic goals. This session included current information, tips and techniques grounded on best practices for delivering SOA-enabled CICS applications. IBM's Leigh Compton described CICS's support for Web services, supporting standards-based application integration and access using SOAP and XML. She also illustrated various options for connecting your CICS applications into an SOA-based infrastructure.
2. BPM in WebSphere and CICS. Peter Beggs will explain how to take your CICS applications even further with the benefits of Business Process Management and discuss the capabilities in the IBM WebSphere Business Process Management portfolio of products, and how they can be deployed in conjunction with CICS to provide a fully integrated solution.
Leigh Compton
Leigh Compton is a consulting IT Specialist in the IBM Advanced Technical Support group located in Dallas, Texas. She has more than 30 years of experience with large systems computing and CICS. She holds a BS degree in Education from Auburn University and has taken graduate course work in software engineering and information systems. Her areas of expertise include networking, connectivity, and interoperability along with high-availability configurations for CICS applications. She is a frequent speaker at IBM Technical Conferences and User Group meetings.
Peter Beggs
Peter Beggs is a National Business Process Management (BPM) Specialist for the Software Group in Canada. As the BPM lead in Canada, Peter has extensive industry experience in the application of SOA, BPM, BAM, and middleware technologies to address customer needs. His current focus is helping customers exploit the value of SOA through process management. Prior to joining the IBM Canada Software Group, Peter was the Senior Planning Manager for Integration and Middleware products in the Toronto Software Lab. There he was responsible for product strategies and plans for integration technologies, tools and the initial development of WebSphere Application Server. He has held various positions in product development and management. Peter joined IBM in 1978 and is a graduate of Engineering Science at the University of Toronto where he received his Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering. Peter subsequently completed his Masters of Engineering also from the University of Toronto.

Two topics were presented:
1. An overview of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) with a focus on CICS. This session outlined how existing and new z/OS applications can support the SOA framework directly via Web Services. It highlighted several integration scenarios for direct Web Service access to CICS (as well as IMS and DB2) applications and data.
Presenter was Vaclav Honsa, Senior Consultant, Instructor and Enterprise Application Integration Specialist with AMDEX Computing Corporation.
2. TCA members, Geoff Payne and Stephen Ramai from BMO presented a report on the recent SHARE conference, with a focus on CICS.
